Godot 4 Roguelike Course – Build a Complete Top-Down Action Game

freeCodeCamp.org · 软件开发

A top-down action roguelite only works when combat feels sharp, rooms feel connected, and every run asks you to trade power for risk. Godot 4 has the tools for that, but most tutorials stop before those systems fit together into a game someone else can open and play. We just published a comprehensive 10-hour course on the freeCodeCamp.org YouTube channel that will teach you how to build a complete top-down action roguelite in Godot 4.7.2, from an empty project to an exported game. This course is taught by Omar Zaki, creator of Coding Quests, and most lessons include a Your Turn section where you build the next piece yourself before you see the solution. Here is what the course covers: Dash Combat & I-Frames Build weighty movement, aiming, and a dodge with invincibility frames so combat feels fair instead of cheap. Enemies, Telegraphs & a Boss Tell Create five enemy types from a shared base, then add a boss with a clear warning before the hard hit lands. Procedural Connected Rooms Generate random floors of linked rooms in code, track where you are, and lock a fight until the room is clear. Items, Corruption & Shops Stack items into builds, take corruption that trades power for fragility, and risk gold at shops and a gambling altar. Run Loop, Unlocks & Export Wire death, permanent unlocks, a title screen, sound, and an export so a stranger can download and play your game. Watch the full course on the freeCodeCamp.org YouTube channel (10-hour watch).
