Open Source Friday - Your first contribution to OSS

GitHub · 软件开发

Open source can feel intimidating when you’re staring at a mature repository with thousands of stars and no idea where to start. In this episode of Open Source Friday, Andrea Griffiths sits down with Angela Wen, an engineer on GitHub’s Copilot platform, to walk through a first contribution from repository discovery to pull request. They cover finding a `good first issue`, reading `README` and `CONTRIBUTING.md`, forking and syncing a repository, creating a draft pull request, navigating CI checks, and setting realistic expectations with maintainers. They also discuss using Copilot responsibly. If you want another human to review your work, you need to read it first. Stay through the end for a step-by-step beginner walkthrough. Then tell us: what was the first open source project you contributed to, and why?
